The International History Bee and Bowl is delighted to announce that Sha Tin College in Hong Kong will host our inaugural Asian Championships on the weekend of 13-15 June! We are excited to finally have our date and site established so that teams, coaches, students, and their families can start making plans to join us. While this weekend is slightly later than we had originally planned, it avoids the SAT conflict on the prior weekend, and various graduation conflicts that a number of schools had informed us about for the first weekend in June. Also, the later date allows a bit more time for fundraising and planning, which will be helpful.
Registration will officially open by 24 March; we will look to post the costs by then as well. Registration will remain open through at least May 15; possibly through the end of May. If you are looking to book travel, please try and book a flight that arrive in Hong Kong no later than 2pm on 13 June. We will be putting together an event that evening (either a welcome dinner or an activity in the city) and hope you can join us for that, though it won’t be mandatory. The exact timing of the events will depend on how many students and teams register. We ask that everyone be available from 8:30am on Saturday until 6:30pm on Saturday, and from 8:00am on Sunday until 3pm on Sunday. The competition will take place entirely within those times, though we may look to schedule our planned Sports and Entertainment History Bee on Friday or Saturday evening (this is optional and open to all, including coaches). If you are looking to leave Hong Kong on Sunday evening, please do not book return flights before 5:30pm!
We are very grateful to Sha Tin College for hosting and hope that you will be able to join us for an incredible weekend with the top history students and teams from throughout Asia! See you there!
