Sunday, November 23rd featured our first IHBB Asia tournament of the season in Shanghai, China at the Shanghai American School in Puxi. Our competition featured four different schools from the Shanghai dares, including host SAS Puxi, sister school SAS Pudong, Shanghai SMIC Private School, and Shanghai High School International Division.

After a competitive five rounds, SAS Puxi emerged as the top two seeds for the semifinals in the Varsity division. Joining them were SAS Pudong’s A team and SMIC’s A team. After two great matches, the final competitors were decided as SAS Puxi A and B–not surprising considering Bee winner Blaze Lee and runner-up Andre Wong made up the A team. In the final match, the A team showed their superiority with a 350-170 win.

In the Junior Varsity division, SAS Puxi and SAS Pudong faced off in an extremely close match. A preliminary win over Pudong gave Puxi a 50 point advantage in the final, which was exactly what they needed to take home the gold. The final score was 270 Puxi, 230 Pudong. Puxi’s team featured Bee runner-up Sean Chen.

In the Middle School division, former Asian Championship Bee winner Chansol Park led SAS Pudong to undefeated status and the gold. He also repeated his success with another win in the Bee. Shanghai High School International Division’s A and C teams walked away with a tie for runner-up.

Congratulations to the phenomenal winners and runners-up of the 2014 Shanghai Fall History Bee and Bowl!
Thank you for coming!
